Pantone's brand gets a little weird

We discovered this the other day from Pantone. Normally we love the Pantone products and we've showcased some previously (such as the lovely iPhone and iPad cases, and their furnishings). They're well made and a clever expansion of merchandise from what is essentially just a colour matching system for designers. But we think this one's a little odd... It's the Pantone Barbie®.

The Barbie® doll is dressed in "her signature colour" of PMS 219. It features a skirt made of Pantone color chips and a "leather" bodice (!?). The doll also has White shoes with the Pantone number PMS 219 written on them. Barbie® also gets silver hair. Maybe because she's getting on a bit...

We're not sure who it's amied at. The Desinger who wants to get his young kids into design? Or a Designer with a fetish for dolls? Or maybe just Desinger types who love pink. We think it's more likely a tenuous link to the colour of pink.

Well if you're a collector of dolls, you'll be assured of something fairly rare and certainly a talking point.

And it wouldn't look out of place on the Liv Design studio bookcase actually. Come to think of it, maybe we'll get one...
